New Home for Chicks: The Chickens were getting cramped in the dog cage so bought a ready made dog pin, covered it with chicken wire and placed it in a shady area of the main chicken yeard.  Hooked up an electrical line so I could hang the heat lamp to keep the chicks warm.  Even though we live in sunny California we are near the coast and in the hills so the temperature can drop lower than it should be for the healthy of the young chicks.
