NOTE:  It appears that the Romer (Roemer) family was from Kirchberg / Humsreuck (Hunsruck), Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany XXX

NOTE:  There is a famous photographer Eduard Jean Steichen b. 27 March 1879 in Bivange, Luxembourg who's family might give us a clue as to the Steichen families.  His father  migrated to Chicago, Ill., USA  in 188) and Eduward and his mother soon followed in 1881.   He was the son of Jean Pierre Steicher and Marie , nee Kemp.
