Harry Bader Harry was a distant cousin of mine. He was in the class of 1954 from Lodi Union HS. We attended the same church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church. With the church group we attended the various functions. The one I remember most was a trip to the snow lines. We rented a tobogan and found a hill that was suitable for sliding down. Trouble was, there was a tree at the bottom of the hill. I choose to be the last one seated on this five person tobagan. When I saw we were going to hit the tree, I bailed. Harry bailed next. The three other girls just held on and screamed. They received bumps and bruises but nothing serious. Harry's father was our family dentist, later, Harry became our family dentist. We had a lot of laughs and memories. He married, had several children and then his wife came down with cancer. He was always worried about her. One of his dreams as a kid was to buy a corvet. Finally, he did. He had a massive heart attack one day at work and he was gone. No one had time to say good-by. We all miss him. The following is what was written in the Boy Friend program about him: HARRY BADER (Gendarme and Fan Man) appeared in both the All-School production of "Family Portrait" and the Senior Class production of "Arsenic and Old Lace." In his senior year Harry also served LUHS as student body president. Following hi8s graduation from Lodi High in 1954, Harry attended Westmar College in LeMars, Iowa, where he performed in the college all school play, "The Crucible" by Arthur Milller. His graduate work has been done at the College of the Pacific. |
