Gotthilf  PIPPUS OBIT

The following appeared in the Grande Prairie Daily Herald Tribune in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada on 12 & 13 January 1999.

PIPPUS, Gotthilf; 74; of Westmark

Gotthilf Pippus, 74, died on January 6, 1999 while working on his farm six miles west of Woking, in the Westmark community. Gotthilf born in Borodina, Bessarabia, on February 14, 1924, was predeceased by two brothers, Johnathan and Friedrick Karl and his parents, Daniel and Rosina Wegner. He is survived by brother, Alfred (Valerie nee Taylor) of Ladysmith, B.C., and sister, Maria Dorathea (Bligen) of Bronx, New York.

Gotthilf arrived in Canada with his parents in October 1927. The family farmed in the Hanna area before moving ot the Peace Country in the spring of 1934. After his discharge from the army, Gotthilf moved across the river from his parents to the Westmark location where he lived until his death.

In spite of his fierce independence, many members of the community kindly concerned themselves with Gotthilf's welfare.

Gotthild will be interred in the Grande Prairie Cemetery on Thursday, January 14, 1999, following a simple ceremony at Oliver's Grande Prairie Funeral Chapel, 10005 - 107 Avenue. Officiated by Pastor Ruby Weibe.
